The bonus pack: Vintage Vice City Pack

Any pre-order, digital or physical, made before 20 November 2026 (the day after launch) includes this pack:

  1. 1955 Vapid Stanier, a classic sedan, with a garage in Ocean Beach.
  2. 80s-style outfits for Jason and Lucia.
  3. Weapon skin inspired by Tommy Vercetti, the protagonist of GTA Vice City.

Separately, digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+, redeemable until 31 March 2027. Note that it auto-renews afterwards unless you cancel.

Physical format with disc or code in box?

One of the most discussed decisions by Rockstar Games is that the physical copies sold in stores like GAME, MediaMarkt, Amazon.es or El Corte Inglés include a download code inside the box, without optical disc support. The full download is done via PlayStation Store or Xbox Store.

What this announcement meant

Beyond the numbers, the opening of pre-orders on June 25 was the moment when GTA VI stopped being an announced project to become a product with a date, price, and schedule. Three decisions from that day marked the conversation for the following months.

The price consolidated a new standard

The €79.99 for the base edition placed GTA VI in the high end of the market. For years the benchmark was €69.99, and several recent releases had started to move towards 80. The most anticipated game in the industry adopting this figure tends to set it as the norm for the rest.

It’s worth putting into perspective: the debate was not so much about the base price as it was about the difference between editions.

The Ultimate sparked a fundamental debate

The €99.99 edition is not limited to cosmetic extras. It includes entire establishments that don’t exist in the standard one: clothing stores, hair salons, tattoo studios, and garages.

That shifted the discussion from “how much it costs” to “what is left out if I pay less”. An exclusive car is not the same as a venue a player cannot enter for having chosen the basic edition.

Rockstar has not clarified if that content will arrive through another route later. The only clue is that it unlocks progressively as the campaign advances, not all at once at the start.

The physical format stopped being physical

The box contains a download code, not a disc. Rockstar sources cited by the press noted that there are no plans to print discs at launch or afterwards.

It is a change with concrete consequences: the second-hand market disappears for what will probably be the best-selling release of the generation. With GTA V, disc resale was a real part of the game’s life cycle for years.

The €20 upgrade changes the calculation

The decision is not irreversible, and that matters more than it seems. You can start with the standard and upgrade to Ultimate at any time by paying the difference.

In practice, this means that nobody needs to decide today: you can play the campaign, see if the extra content is interesting, and decide later with the game in hand.

What remains unannounced

  • The PC version. No date, no price, no pre-orders.
  • The online component, which is not part of the launch.
  • A collector’s edition that includes the game. There is a $399.99 merchandise box that does not include the game: see GTA 6’s collector’s box.
