A Cohesive Setting Twice as Large

Rockstar Games has confirmed a series of fundamental details about the world design of Grand Theft Auto VI, revealing that the fictional state of Leonida will be the most extensive created by the studio to date. According to the shared information, this new region will be twice the size of the Grand Theft Auto V map.

Beyond the surface area, the developers have emphasized the cohesiveness of the setting. Instead of disconnected zones, Leonida is designed as a realistic and dense environment, where every corner, from rooftops to alleyways, has been handcrafted. The company has also highlighted the number of accessible interiors, ensuring that buildings feel real both in their facades and internal structures, offering the characters Jason and Lucía multiple ways to interact with the environment.

Abundant Wildlife and Advanced Weather Systems

One of the most notable aspects revealed is the biological richness of Leonida. Rockstar has confirmed that players will be able to find over 170 animal species, distributed across more than 60 types of birds and 30 mammals. Among these creatures will be flamingos, manatees, pelicans, and crocodiles, some with unique visual characteristics such as varied plumage, iridescent skin, or unprecedented fur systems.

Regarding weather technology, the game will incorporate tropical storms and hurricanes with detailed visual and physical effects. This includes the formation of storm clouds, strong winds that affect character hair, the movement of debris on rooftops, and water falling from canals and roofs during downpours. Additionally, a dynamic wind system has been implemented that simulates night breezes and updrafts, reacting even to the presence of buildings.

NPC Details and Varied Activities

Immersion in GTA VI is reinforced by an unprecedented level of detail in non-playable characters (NPCs). The residents of Leonida present a wide variety of body types, skin tones, freckles, moles, and tattoo styles that reflect the different communities of the region.

These visual details are complemented by a wide range of activities available for the protagonists, such as diving, kayaking, jet skiing, gyms, zoos, mini-golf, billiards, racing, and hydrofoils. With the release scheduled for November 19, Rockstar continues to solidify the reputation of its upcoming title as one of the densest and most detailed open-world experiences in video game history.
